International Education Week 2015
College banners and American flags, plenty of handshakes and smiles, great alumni involvement: these are just a few snapshots from International Education Week in Budapest, Hungary. Though we are exhausted from all of the fun and hard work that went into making IEW 2015 happen, we are still inspired by the excitement of having so many impressive participants.
One of the many highlights of the week was the annual US Study Abroad and College Fair held on Tuesday, November 17th. We had almost one hundred visitors to meet and mingle with former students, scholars, and college representatives from both private and private universities across the United States. With the power of social media and the aid of the US Embassy, we were able to attract visitors from all over Hungary! There were students who had traveled more than three hours to our offices to discuss campus life and the possibilities of admission with representatives from both big name and lesser known universities.
We are thankful to the many former and current Fulbright grantees—both to America and to Hungary—who volunteered their time. Their energy and enthusiasm for their universities did not go unnoticed; they had captive audiences all evening. The success of the week-long outreach programs illustrates that the Fulbright EducationUSA Advising Center is truly helping Hungarian students discover which American college or university is right for them—and that we represent universities from coast to coast!
