Iron Curtain Memorial – Paneuropean Picnic
U.S. Fulbright grantees from Austria and Hungary met at the site of the so-called Paneuropean Pinic on the Austro-Hungarian border on October 12, 2012. Prof. László Vass (’95 American University), Rector of the Budapest College of Communications, Business and Arts and former president of the Hungarian Fulbright Alumni Association was the highest ranking Hungarian government official at the Paneuropean Pinic on August 19, 1989. At this occasion, he shared his personal memories of that noteworthy event.The group also visited the city of Sopron, the Esterházy-Palace in Fertőd and the Benedictine Monastery in Pannonhalma.
