Open Doors 2012The number of international students at colleges and universities in the United States increased by 6.5% to 764,495 during the 2011/12 academic year. Europe continues to be top destination for U.S. study abroad, hosting over half of all U.S. students abroad in 2010/11. 4 of the 5 top destinations for U.S. students are in Europe: the United Kingdom, Italy, Spain and France. International exchange with U.S. is at all-time high, academic exchange fuels innovation and prepares next generation for global citizenship.

Open Doors, supported by a grant from the Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs at the U.S. Department of State, is a comprehensive information resource on international students and scholars studying or teaching at higher education institutions in the United States, and U.S. students studying abroad for academic credit at their home colleges or universities.

IIE Award for Outstanding Service

IIE Award for Outstanding ServiceDr. Huba Brückner, Executive Director of the Hungarian-American Fulbright Commission was honored with the IIE Award for Outstanding Service in recognition of “the extraordinary commitment to peace and prosperity demonstrated through his support of the exchange of students, scholars, and professionals worldwide”.
The award was presented by Ágnes Vajda, Director, IIE European Office and Chris Medalis, Regional Educational Advising Coordinator (REAC) for Europe, U.S. Department of State.
