Intercultural Innovation Award

Intercultural Innovation AwardUnited Nations Alliance of Civilizations (UNAOC) and BMW Group announced the winners of Intercultural Innovation Award at the 5th Global Forum of the UNAOC in Vienna, Austria, on February 26, 2013.

István Tarrósy (’12 University of Florida), director of IDResearch Ltd. were given honorable mentions among the top 10 finalists out of more than 500 organizations from 92 countries with Immigropoly, a unique Internet-based character-game to increase the understanding of migration and integration in our global world, and targeted towards youth communities. It intends to encourage openness towards immigrants in a European and global context and enhance intercultural dialogue in an indirect way. It is not only a free-time activity, but also a versatile educational tool touching on various issues from the fields of Social Sciences.

BORDERS Berlin Fulbright ExhibitionThe BORDERS Berlin Fulbright Exhibition curated by Trevor Wallack Amery (’12 University of Pécs) & Linnea West (’12 Ludwig Museum of Contemporary Art) is the first-ever exhibition of 9 current US Fulbright visual artist grantees in Europe, among them Julia M. Kunin(’12 University of Pécs). These artists express unique perspectives on navigating new cultural spaces informed by personal experience and an awareness of the complexities of cultural exchange in the multidisciplinary, thoughtful work on view.

Meet the ScientistThe 3rd season of the Meet the Scientist Program opened with the presentation of Kristóf Iván (’11 University of California, Berkeley) on bioengineering at the Budai Ciszterci Szent Imre High School. In the Spring semester 9 high schools (5 in Budapest and 4 in the countryside) will be visited by former Fulbright scholars and current U.S. grantees. Lectures will be followed by spectacular experiments presented by the Palace of Miracles.
