Fulbright Application Hands-On Writing Series:
Part I: Brainstorming/Pre-Writing
Beginning the writing process can be very difficult and at times almost feel impossible. During the workshop you will be asked to reflect on your own goals and experiences before attempting to write your personal statement and study objectives essay. After the workshop you should have concrete examples and ideas that can help you create a well structured outline which can then be turned into a clear and powerful final essay. Come ready to reflect and think deeply! Please bring pen and paper.
- April 7, 2016 (Thursday) 14:30-16:00
- April 21, 2016 (Thursday) 14:30-16:00
Part II: Peer Editing
Once you have a draft of your personal statement and study objectives essay it is time to begin the editing process. This workshop will give students tips on how to edit their own essays as well as others, and then students will actually swap papers with another student and give feedback and ask questions. Through this process students will develop a more critical eye when looking at their own writing and will be able to identify areas of weakness and confusion based on the feedback from their peers. Come to the workshop with at least a first draft of your essays since you are expected to switch papers with someone else.
